India keeps itself alive in the series with 48-run wins over South Africa. After lingering at 0-2 India had to make a solid comeback to keep the series alive and Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel, and Ruturaj Gaikwad just did that by powering India to 179 for five.
The management of the team was under pressure as India was in a do-or-die situation before the 3rd T20I match as the host was lingering at 0-2 in the five-match series but they didn’t scorn to pressure and made a comeback keeping the series alive.
South Africa failed to chase the target of 180 runs as Indian spinners did great damage at the beginning itself.
Captain Rishabh Pant bought left-hand spinner Axar Patel in the fourth over itself and this decision proved fruitful for the team as Patel got rid of South Africa captain Temba Bavuma.
Gaikwad and Kishan together scored 97, India’s highest opening against South Africa, each scoring half-century. Gaikwad scored his career’s best 57 before Chahal and Harshal took three wickets to give India a thorough win.
Rishabh Pant got his first win as a captain after Chahal and Axal Patel allowed South Africa to take only 45 runs in 7 wickets.
Harshal Patel and Ruturaj Gaikwad managed to take David Miller’s wicket by making a sound strategy. This was Miller’s first dismissal in 5 matches.
The fourth T20I between India and South Africa will be played in Rajkot on June 17.
