The condition of the pitch was very helpful for bowlers, which was perfectly utilized by the Indian bowlers to bring South Africa to its knees. India stopped South Africa at a low score of 106 with 8 wickets falling.
India too had a terrible start, but it was handled well by KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav, as Rahul was taking his time to get settled and Suryakumar Yadav was hitting the ball. Both players end up completing the fifty in the 17th over. With a six, KL Rahul completed his fifty and brought India over the crease.
Indian bowlers make excellent use of the conditions.
South Africa was surprised by the behavior of the pitch during the match. The batsmen were having difficulties hitting the ball, which eventually resulted in the South African score being 9 runs with the loss of 5 wickets.
Arshdeep took three wickets in the second over of the inning. No, it was not a hat-trick but a three-wicket haul that brought South Africa into a very difficult situation.
After the fifth wicket, the inning was handled by Aiden Markram and Wayne Parnell. But at the score of 42 and then 68, two wickets again fall. Another small partnership of 33 runs was formed and was broken by Harshal Patel off the wicket of Keshav Maharaj, who was proving troublesome for the Indian side as the only South African player to score more than 30 runs in them.
Out of 8 wickets, only 3 players were able to score double figures and 4 of them got out on zero, including 3 Golden Ducks. It was the pitch that didn’t let players like David Miller and Rilee Rossouw even open their innings.
Aiden Markram scored 25 runs off 24 balls, including 3 fours and a six with a strike rate of 104; Wayne Parnell scored 24 runs off 37 balls, including a four and a six with a strike rate of 65; and then Keshav Maharaj scored 41 runs off 35 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 117.
Indian bowlers have proved how well they can use the conditions in their favor. The most efficient bowler was Ravichandran Ashwin, who didn’t get any wickets but bowled at the economy of just the two cheapest bowlers in the match.
Arshdeep picked up 3 wickets with an economy of 8. Deepak Chahar and Harshal Patel picked up 2 wickets each, with an economy of 6 and 6.5 respectively. 1 wicket was picked by Axar Patel with an economy of 4.
SKY and Rahul win a victory for India
India too had a treble start where our stars like Virat and Rohit were in the pavilion at the score of 17 and KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav took the team toward the victory. Suryakumar Yadav was the hitter during the inning and KL Rahul was taking his time to get settled.
Both players ended the inning in a flashy way. Suryakumar Yadav completed his fifty with a single and KL Rahul completed it by hitting a six. This brought the win for the team.
The South African bowlers have done a tremendous job. They utilized the conditions perfectly, but the runs on the board were not enough to defend. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje each took one wicket, with an economy of four and ten, respectively.
The match resulted in India’s series advancement with a 1-0 win; India will try to seal the series in the next match, while South Africa will try to save the series on October 2.
