How Many Matches Must Be Won For IPL Qualification

A squad that won 8 of its 14 games and gained 16 points is unquestionably expected to qualify for the IPL. On the other hand, a team with 14 or 12 points may still be eligible, depending on the success of the other teams and its own net run rate. 12–16 points, depending on the circumstance, are required for a side to qualify for the IPL.

However, neither qualification with 12 nor 14 points has been confirmed. To everyone’s astonishment, SRH qualified for the IPL 2019 with just 12 points by placing fourth, although a team had previously qualified with 14 points. Also do not forget that the top 4 teams play in the IPL.

The 10 franchisees will compete against each other twice during the tournament for a spot in the top four on the points table and a shot at the title. Before the four playoff games, the 10 clubs will play a total of 14 league games—7 at home and 7 away—for a total of 70 games.

Each team will play the remaining four teams once, while all five teams will play each other twice (2 only home and 2 only away).

The number of IPL Championships each club had won, followed by the number of Final matches they had played in, was used to separate the teams into two virtual groups.

To finish third or fourth, or with between 14 and 16 points, a team has to win 7 to 8 games. For each victory, you receive 2 points. Teams strive to win 9 of their 14 league games in addition to finishing in the top two spots in order to have a shot at making it to the championship round. Ideally, teams with 16 points or more have a better chance of making it.

But if two teams are deadlocked on points, the net run rate is used. In the tournament, the team with the highest net run rate will move further.

Regardless of whether they have already qualified after 8, 9, or 10 matches, every club in the IPL must play all 14 games. A club must now earn between 12 and 16 points in order to be eligible for the IPL, depending on the situation.

Unquestionably, a team qualifies for the IPL if it wins 8 of its subsequent 14 games and scores a total of 16 points.

The performance of the other teams and the squad’s own net run rate, however, will determine whether a team with 14 or 12 points is still qualified. No qualifying with 12 or 14 points has been verified, though.
