Nuwan Pradeep, the bowler who’s known for his excellent pace and long runup didn’t play a single cricket ball till he was 20. It’s something that looks unbelievable that in less than three years he was selected in Sri Lanka’s Test squad for his amazing bowling and fearing style.
His journey began when he won a pace contest in 2007, where he was successful to impress everyone with his remarkable pace in the talent scouts during a soft-ball event. This amazed the selectors and he was straight sent to Sri Lankan’s Cricket Academy.
After being selected he follows in the Sri Lankan tradition that’s been followed by many well-known nonconformist bowlers with unconventional actions.
This maverick bowler includes Lasith Malinga, he is known for his slinging action that has terrorized many destructive batsmen in domestic as well as in international cricket. Making is also known for his deadly pace and sharp yorkers.
It’s 2010 when Pradeep was selected in the tour with Sri Lanka A to Australia. There he was listed among the fastest bowlers comparing from both sides although he didn’t bag many wickets. It’s not even a month and he was rewarded with a call to the national squad, and this time the team was preparing to face India.
Till now he played for many teams that are – Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka A, Burgher Recreation Club, Basnahira North, Tamil Union Cricket, Bloomfield Cricket, and Athletic Club, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Cricket Development XI, and Athletic Club.
