The decision is made to ensure home players to get benefited. The representatives from six states approached to reassess the new regulation given by BCCI.
How were guest players allowed earlier in Junior Teams?
Here’s how BCCI allowed guest players to play in the junior teams until last season in men’s cricket:
- Under level 16,19 and 23, BCCI allowed three guest players to be part of the men’s team
- Three guest players under level 19,23 allowed in women’s team
Six-state representative to approach BCCI regarding the ban
It was informed in a press meet by CAP (Cricket Association of Pondicherry), that it has approached BCCI for reconsidering the ban guest players in the local team.
It was highlighted that the teams from Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh had the same stand regarding BCCI’s declaration on banning the guest players in the junior team while it was allowed initially 2 years back by BCCI as per orders from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
There was a circular sent to the teams a week before stating that, no new players are allowed in junior cricket. But the same was permitted for senior cricket teams as informed by the BCCI’s General Manager (Cricket Operations), Saba Karim.
This circular brought worries in the new teams which have been recently set up.
The new junior cricket team needs motivation in building up their team to compete with others. The decision made by BCCI to ban guest player lead dispute in the new teams.
The new budding team must play with a team that has prior experience which might lead the budding team to lose hope and may fail in building their team tight.
Concerning the guest, players help the new players to gain experience from their own and hence helps in the overall development of the game itself for the newcomers. Well, seems like a country with Cricket as one of its main sports, this was obvious and expected.
The state associations have called for Ganguly, to look out for the possibilities in revoking the verdict in order to ensure that the teams don’t have to suffer as they play in upcoming seasons.
The president has assured that the request from the new team will be considered.
The new teams are hoping for the best to be declared by the BCCI. And for the latest news regarding BCCI check into ” https://www.bcci.tv/articles“
