Five T20 Leagues Who Have The Highest Winning Prize Money

The shortest format is the most entertaining format in the world of cricket right now. The T20 format has given the players a new way to earn through the franchise cricket tournament. Even Test cricket and the ODI format don’t pay the players that much, which the cash-rich league tournaments pay.

The cricket boards of all the countries also allow the players to get those contracts, and some of the boards like BCCI, Cricket Australia, PCB, BCB, Sri Lankan Cricket, and Cricket South Africa have created their T20 leagues, which will give the players the opportunities to perform and they will also earn good remuneration by playing in these leagues.

The prize money holds equal importance in such T20 leagues because the tournament winners will get the most money.

But the prize money is different from one league to another. So today, we shall know about the top five highest-paid prize money in the T20 franchise-based cricket tournaments –

The Indian Premier League – The world’s richest board-started this cash-rich league tournament called the IPL – Indian Premier League. BCCI started this first kind of franchise league in 2008 after India won the World T20 in South Africa in 2007.

The popularity of this league has grown immensely over the years because the IPL is watched worldwide, mostly through TV sets and live streaming services. Virat Kohli earns 17 crores through the IPL, which is enough to show that this league is the richest event in the world. The prize money of the IPL 2020 season was 20 crores which also the most amongst the current T20 leagues worldwide.

Bangladesh Premier League –  Many will be surprised that BPL – Bangladesh Premier League is the second richest league in the T20 franchised-based cricket tournament.

It inaugurated the league in 2012, and the prize money is 6. 19 crores. Dhaka Gladiators is the successful team of this tournament till now, and the matches of BPL are played at Dhaka and Chattogram.

Pakistan Super League – The Pakistan Super League – PSL has played a main part in returning cricket to Pakistan. Even though this league was played in the United Arab Emirates in 2019, but still PSL holds importance for Pakistan as the T20 tournament.

The league has the third-highest prize money. Pakistan Super League winners will get 3.67 crores if they win this T20 tournament. But the second half of the PSL 2021 season was stopped because of the pandemic created by the Corona Virus, and now it is set to resume in Abu Dhabi.

KFC Big Bash League – The Australians started their T20 tournament named the KFC Big Bash League from 2011 and 2012. Millions worldwide have watched the tournament, and the ten seasons of BBL have been played so far.

The prize money of the BBL is the fourth highest, and they also load a lot of money in the T20 tournament. The team who won the BBL in the 2021 season got 45 thousand dollars. Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers are the joint winners of the BBL tournament. They won three titles each till now.   

T20 Blast – The last and final league with the highest prize is the T20 Blast from England. The British are the originators of the test, ODI, and T20 format. The T20 Blast is the oldest T20 tournament that was started in 2003. It continues to enthrall the fans worldwide.

The tournament has involved loads of money ever since it has been played. The winner of the T20 Blast event in the 2020 season got prize money of 1.80 crores, which is the fifth most amongst the T20 franchise-based cricket tournament worldwide.
