ECB Director Ashley Giles Says That England Players May Not Feature In The Remaining IPL 2021 Season

The IPL 2021 season might not have England star players. The director of the England and Wales Cricket Board, Ashley Giles, has said that the players from England might not take part when the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League when it shall resume.

The star-studded England side is vital to the franchise of the Indian Premier League. The eighth franchise might miss the services of Skipper Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, and Chris Woakes. England has a power-packed 2021 year, and that’s why they might not be available for the remainder of the IPL 2021 season.

The IPL 14th edition was postponed to an indefinite period after the COVID 19 had breached the bio bubble of the players and the support staff members after 29 matches. Now BCCI is looking for a window to host the remaining matches of this season. It is likely said that the second half of this cash-rich tournament might move to the United Arab Emirates.

The BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, has stressed holding this IPL 2021 season. If they don’t, Ganguly has also reminded us about the loss of more than 2500 crores. Dada also said that it is too early to say anything about the window. But BCCI is planning to host this event before the ICC World T20 starts.

England will tour Bangladesh and Pakistan during the window of the IPL this season, and the players will also prepare for the upcoming ICC event in the shortest format. England was the runner-up of the World T20 in 2016. However, Morgan and his men lost to West Indies in that final.

The director of ECB, Ashley Giles, has said that if the Pakistan and Bangladesh tours go ahead, then the England players should be there. However, England Team is also planning to host the matches in England for the other players, and so they would be missing this half of the IPL 2021 season.

But previously, Ashley Giles had agreed to the participation of the England players in the whole IPL season, and they would miss the two-match Test series against a top-ranked team like New Zealand.

The series will start on June 2nd, 2021. Giles said that the test series was decided by the end of January, and those contracts of the England players were signed as they would be part of the whole IPL 2021 season.
