One of the greatest all-rounders of all time Sir Ian Botham represented England in both test and ODI cricket. He represented England from 1977 to 1992 and announced his retirement from international cricket in 1992 playing his last ODI and test both against Pakistan. He played most of his County cricket for Somerset.
He also played for Worcestershire, Durham and Queensland. In his test career Ian Botham scored 14 centuries with the highest score of 208. From 1986 to 1988 he held the record for most no. of test wickets untill he was overtaken by Sir Richard Hadlee.
Currently, he is an English commentator whom we frequently hear whenever there’s a match of England, he’s also the chairman of Durham County cricket club and most importantly a member in the English House of Lords.
The grandson of Ian Botham has taken different route and plays Rugby. He received a call up for Wales international team for the Autumn Cup tie against Georgia. James Botham, a 22-year-old flanker, was set to start for the Cardiff Blues against Benetton Treviso. But just over an hour before Monday’s kick-off, it was announced he had been withdrawn from the Pro14 fixture.
Fans will expect to see him in the fixture against Lelos in Llanelli on Saturday. Coach Wayne Pivac will decide whether he makes his debut or not hence fans have kept high hopes from the coach.
