England Board Receives Threatening Mail Relating To NZ Cricket, Extra Security For NZ Women In Britain
In a major security threat, the England cricket board received a threatening Email to the New Zealand women’s cricket team before the 3rd One-day international to be played in Leicester on Tuesday.
The New Zealand women’s Cricket Team is currently in England to play 5 ODIs. There were threats that there was a bomb in the hotel at Leicester. Due to the threat, extra security has been provided to New Zealand women’s team.
Due to some security concerns, the England men’s and women’s teams withdraw from their tour of Pakistan. New Zealand also pulled out of Pakistan before the toss as they were scheduled to play 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs.
On 17th September morning, the New Zealand team decided to go home and abandoned the historic Pakistan tour.
New Zealand made it into Pakistan shores after a gap of 18 years. They practiced for 4 days before on the morning of 17th September, the Kiwis decided to not share the details to Pakistan agencies and therefore decided to abandon the tour.
“The ECB has received a threatening email relating to NZC. Although this did not specifically reference the White Ferns, it was treated seriously, investigated, and deemed not credible,” the governing body said in a statement.
Many teams like South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies played in Pakistan and did not have any problems with the security arrangements. Australia and West Indies are scheduled to Pakistan next year and there might be doubts about those tours also.
There were major attacks on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. After that incident, no international teams arrived in Pakistan to play. For some time now, teams started to play in Pakistan and there cricket suffered.
