ECB calls review in face of umpires’ accusation of institutional racism!!

Welcome back to all our lovely cricket fans. Here we are with another update on Racism

Recently aracist argument occurred between two professional cricketers named John Holder and Ismail Dawood that goes beyond the limit. Also, ECB calls reviews in face of umpires’ accusation of institutional racism!

Let’s burrow inside the news, buddies!

The former umpires accused the England and Wales Cricket Board of institutional racism and called up separated investigation by the UK Equality and Human Rights Commission.

On the basis of ECB, its pool of professional match officials is lacking in diversity and put the reputation at stake due to this racist argument!

John Holder, one of the umpires who involved in the argument, was retired in 2009 and gives 30-years of his life to umpiring, whereas Ismail Dawood who’s also a former first-class cricketer who after cricketing struggled to break into the umpiring ranks and stood on the ECB reserve list!

But, honestly, both are unworthy not because they had an argument, but because they had an argument on racism which is seriously shameful!

Highlight the argument!

The last Black, Asian and minority umpire added to the ECB’s first-class list was Vanburn Holder before 28 years and there have been none since his retirement in 2010.

And till now ECB haven’t selected a single BAME member as a pitch liaison officer, cricket liaison officer, match referee or umpires’ coach roles which seriously shows the lack of equality and diversity!

John Holder states an example of Devon Malcolm who tried for umpiring after retirement but was dissuaded from moving. He shows his concern about not one black cricketer has progressed on to the full-time panel in nearly 30-years whereas white umpires have been encouraged which is suspicious to him.

John talked about his experience that after his retirement in 2009, he received a glowing testimonial from ECB but when he applied for a role as a mentor or referee, he didn’t receive a single reply whereas when Dawood applies, he got a reply which included lots of reasons why he’s not applicable for the post!

But later on Dawood passed over for promotion on six different occasions maybe due to his colour.

Hence, both Dawood and John have little faith in ECB’s ability to address the issue, and they will definitely stump out the racial discrimination as soon as possible!

Stay tuned and be in touch buddies!
