The most awaited series of India vs Australia was underway on 27 November in Sydney with the Indian team wearing their new ODI jerseys reminding the old Indian jerseys of 1990s. In the match Australia won the toss and decided to bat first.
All through the first innings it was a one-way traffic with Australia putting up 375 on the board. Finch came in as an element of surprise as he failed badly in IPL for the Royal challengers Bangalore but on Friday he was in a completely different form as he scored 114.
Steve Smith again led from the front scoring another classic century to help his team get to a big score. Glenn Maxwell who had failed miserably the whole IPL also perform extremely well as he scored 65 off just 27 deliveries to provide power to the innings at the death.
In the 2nd innings:
When India came in to bat in the 2nd innings, they never really looked like they were in the contest and out of the whole team it was only Dhawan and Pandya who could score above 50. India couldn’t even reach 300 in their 50 overs and lost the match by 78 runs.
What Kohli had to say:
In the presentation ceremony, Captain Virat Kohli admitted that the team was not up to their level and there were absolutely no excuses to give. He said the bowling line up failed badly which ultimately put pressure on the batsman to get to a big target, also missing Hardik Pandya in the bowling line up was a disadvantage.
