DARK SHADES OF CRICKET: TOP 10 FIGHTS HAPPENED IN HISTORY OF CRICKET!

It is said that Cricket is a game of gentlemen but the sport has witnessed some dark and negative moments in its history. Here we are not talking about spot-fixing scandals but about the fights that have happened on the field.

Let’s have a look at the list of top 10 fights in cricketing history!

MS Dhoni and Mustafizur Rehman, 2015

Yes, you read that word right. MS Dhoni has also lost his calm during a match between India and Bangladesh. While completing the run, Dhoni found Rehman on his way and pushed him aside to complete the signal.

It was taken as revenge for what Rehman did earlier to Rohit Sharma in the same match. Both Dhoni and Rehman were fined 75% and 50% match fees respectively.

Andrew Symonds and Harbhajan Singh, 2008

No one can forget that test series between India and Australia. Especially the infamous moment between Harbhajan Singh and Symonds. It happened when Singh said Symonds ‘monkey’ as the rivalry between them was going on before this.

Singh was suspended from three matches, but the Indian team warned that they would leave the tour in between if the ban was not removed. As a result, charges were taken away from Singh.

India U-19 and Bangladesh U-19, 2020

The worst incident in an edition of ICC U-19 tournaments. It is not cleared that who was responsible. After winning the finals, the Bangladesh team was celebrating and they called their sporting staff and other players from the dressing room, and pushing between the players of two started.

Five players from both teams were found guilty and were held accused by ICC governing body for breaching the level 3 code of conduct.

Shane Warne and Marlon Samuels, 2013

It all started with Marlon Samuels who tugged on the shirt of David Hussey. His teammate Shane Warne paid the return to Samuels and for the West Indian, it was unexpected. Warne hit a throw toward Marlon intentionally. Marlon showed his bat to Warne in return with anger.

The two players were fined and Warne for using bad language was handed a one-match suspension.

Inzamam-Ul-Haq and a fan, 1997

The match was played between India and Pakistan and it all started with a fan saying Inzamam potato. The Pakistani player lost his calmness and it was almost a fight between them as they went physical.

Inzamam was banned from the next two matches.

Gautam Gambhir and Shane Watson, 2008

India vs Australia is always a heated match with lots of sledding between the players. In that match, Watson was continuously sledding Gambhir which the Indian batsman replied by hitting him on the chest during running a single.

Gautam was not allowed to play the next match.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, 2015

In one of the most heated fights in IPL, Virat got out and was going to the dressing room. He lost his calm in the way from the sledding of Gambhir and they were about to get physical but Rajat Bhatia intervened between them.

Amir Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad, 1999

Ahh! No one can forget this match of the World Cup. Another indo-Pak rivalry and another incident. Sohail hit Prasad for a six and asked him to bring the ball but the rivalry ended with a smile from Prasad as in the next ball, he bowled Amir.

James Anderson and Michael Clarke, 2013

Ashes is also a heated rivalry between England and Australia. One incident happened during Ashes of 2013 when Anderson was on the crease and George Bailey from Australia started Sledging him. Anderson showed Bailey a punch and this made captain Clarke jump and they had a long chat.

Ramnaresh Sarwan and Glenn McGrath, 2003

This incident is still the worst example of sledding in the history of cricket. McGrath said some unpleasant words to Sarwan but the West Indian took it personally and said few words to Mcgrath’s wife.
