Cricket-Williamson, Boult skip T20s as NZ focus on Test Championship

Kane Williamson the man known for his classical batting and left-hander pacer Trent Boult will skip upcoming New Zealand’s Twenty20 series against West Indies. 

Their unavailability on the upcoming test series against the Maroon Caps was being confirmed by Gary Stead, their coach. 

Black Caps coach confirmed this on Tuesday while naming the squad against the Maroon Caps. 

In the World Test Championship, New Zealand is holding the 4th spot currently. However, they can claim their final spot at Lord’s next year after beating West Indies in the schedule two-test series in December. 

The coach also confirmed that not only captain Williamson and pacer bowler Boult will miss November’s three T20 matches. 

But along with them pacemen Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson will only be available for the first two T20 matches. Reports also says that Ross Taylor will also be available for the first two T20 matches only. 

Devon Conway, top-order batsman known for his hard-hitting and crucial batting was included in the Twenty20 squad. 

However, this was the first international call-up for Conway since he became eligible to represent his team (New Zealand).

Colin de Grandhomme, the batting all-rounder and spinner Ajaz Patel were also named in the Test squad against the Caribbeans. 

There playing chances is yet not confirmed as because they both are reported suffering from foot and calf injury, respectively.

Stead added that it’s too early to confirm anything at this stage about their playing chances. And within two weeks it will be clear completely.  

Pakistan will also be hosted by New Zealand later, where they will have a two-test series. This series going to be held in New York. 

Test squad: Tom Latham,  Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson (c), Kyle Jamieson, Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Ajaz Patel, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhomme, Henry Nicholls, Will Young.
