Cricket legends Brian Lara and Sunil Gavaskar join Seven’s cricket commentary team

When we think about the best batsmen of the longer format, two names which will definitely come out are of Brian Lara and Sunil Gavaskar. They were probably the best of their respective generations. Sunil Gavaskar was known as the little master and was famous for the way he classically played at a time when bowlers balled high bouncers and the helmets were not of very good quality.

He was very crucial to India’s World Cup win in 1983 and contributed largely to the team’s success in the longer format. He was probably the best batsman India ever had, untill Sachin Tendulkar came and destroyed most records. Similarly Brian Lara has been probably the most classical batsman West Indies have ever had and he till date holds the record for the highest individual score in the tests of 400 runs.

Channel seven and cricket Australia:

There has been a long going tussle between Australia’s famous sporting broadcaster channel seven and the cricket Australia as channel seven wants the payment for its losses which it incurred due to rescheduling of all the tours after Covid-19 lockdown in the nation and worldwide.

Gavaskar and Lara to work for Seven:

But channel seven has boldly hired Brian Lara and Sunil Gavaskar as it’s new commentators for the upcoming Border Gavaskar trophy from 17 December. They’ll be joined by Australia’s former great captain Ricky Ponting in the commentary box.
