Indian cricket team has been marked on the red list for their further tours to England. The decision was recently taken and it will have a huge direct effect on the future schedules of the matches in England as well as the finals of the World Test Championship.
Although some of the players and staff members are allowed to enter England without taking full health precautions and after arriving in England, they will have to stay in quarantine for 10 days in which they can not get out of their room for anything.
They will not be able to play or practice during the quarantine period and they will be allowed to do so only after testing negative for Covid-19.
DECISION TAKEN DUE TO INCREASING COVID-19 PATIENTS
The decision of keeping India on the red list was taken by the England and Wales Cricket Board looking at the current Covid-19 scenario. As India is seeing a rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
Every day, a huge number of people are testing positive for Covid-19 and hence it was confirmed that India will be on the red list. The second wave of Covid-19 has already started and a lot of more than 2 lacs cases have been reported so far.
After th3 decision by England Cricket Council, it has put on the question mark on the England and New Zealand players who are playing in the Indian Premier League right now.
All the players were supposed to fly to England for a Test series between England and New Zealand on June 2nd. We currently don’t know what will happen to that or to the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand.
In last year, England organized some matches and to their fortune, not a single player or staff member tested positive for Covid-19. The board wants the same for this year too.
This year also, the board has chosen the Rose Bowl hotel for the players’ stay during the matches. As many of the England and New Zealand players are in India right now, the board will have to exempt many of them from the test series.
As per the board decision, players coming from the countries which are not on the red list can stay anywhere for their quarantine bit the ones from the red list countries will have to stay in a pre-decided accommodation provided by the board.
Do you think England will be able to pull of the World Test Championship finals?
