Cricket: Former Auckland wicketkeeper and national selector Ross Dykes dies

New Zealand cricket is going through a rough patch with new harsh things taking place each day. After a long gap of lockdown and a worldwide fight with the corona virus, the international cricket resumed in full force with 3 tours namely India’s tour of Australia, England’s tour of South Africa and Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand.

So Pakistan had to arrive a little early in order to undergo the quarantine period and the isolation before starting with the practice session. But as soon as the Pakistani squad reached New Zealand, 6 of the players tested positive all of which had tested negative back in Pakistan. After that all the players had to remain in isolation but Pakistan players were found roaming with each other and sharing food defying the purpose of quarantine. Seeing this the New Zealand authorities were very angry with them and told them to abide by the rules or they’ll be sent back to their country without playing any match.

What Shoaib said?

Reacting to this, former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar was full of anger and said that New Zealand were not doing a favour to Pakistan by hosting them and Pakistan team should be called back and no cricket should be played with New Zealand for the next five years.

Legend of Auckland no more:

More bad news for New Zealand cricket came this week when former Otago Cricket Association chief executive Ross Dykes died in Auckland on 1st December in the morning after an illness. Dykes left us all at the age of 75 and his immense contribution as a wicketkeeper-batsman for Auckland will always be remembered. He was also the part of New Zealand’s selection panel from 1990 to 2005. Match officials and the players wore black arm bands in the NZ vs WI T20 match in his memory.

Hope to see New Zealand in form soon. Until then, let keep an eye on what’s recent. So stay put to know more.
