Captain skipping as Ravi Shastri assumes Ajinkya Rahane’s spot

Do you remember the instant where the skipper of a cricket squad was away from the post-match press meeting following a gigantic victory?

Well, we know that the question is somewhat difficult, as such an event occurs seldom in the sport. But still, the skipper Ajinkya Rahane, recently, on the very day where he earned an enormous achievement in his cricket career, on that day he did what was unlikely to happen, by steering the Indian team to a great win in the recent game following a horrible defeat in the very initial test game, didn’t participate in the press conference.

SPECULATION ON WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE

Ajinkya Rahane didn’t only govern the squad —a weakened side in the absence of its greatly astonishing batsman, Virat Kohli and its two major bowlers Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami, a squad with two-player who just made their debut in that game, he even obtained the Man of the Match, the man who made the highest run Test with an enormous 112 that will be remembered amongst the tremendous batting executions in cricket.

However, they didn’t receive a chance to talk to the skipper. They couldn’t learn his thinking, study the proposals he settled in a spot to take Australia down, learn about self knock and the challenges he withstood. They didn’t learn about the ways he utilized the reserves vacant to the skipper with enormous originality or the way he put the duo of Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin to operate bands through Steve Smith and Aussies.

Rather, they had the former cricket and present head coach, Ravi Shastri. In case, the sport was football, the coach illustrating his perspective at the verge of an outstanding victory would enact straight away. As in football, the instructor is the front of the squad, its captain is the one who builds strategies, the player who formulates every judgment.

The contrary is valid for cricket, where it’s the skipper, prevailing out there on the field, who leads the squad to the finish mark, brings about the all big as well as small rulings and enforces the proposals that will direct to the consequence.

It can be speculated that the only cause for the above might be that the skipper was not at his best to attend the meeting. However, he didn’t seem like it while on the ground or for the post-game interview.

RAVI SHASTRI’S PRESENCE

Ravi Shastri has a steady presence at media committee meetings when the Indians triumph.

The last time a skipper remained off from the press that they remember is while India’s tour of Australia in 2011-12, where Indians had to face lost every game out of four matches. On this day, MS Dhoni didn’t follow the media meetings. Rather he dispatched a debutant Ashwin.

What do you think of this occuring? Nonetheless, do let us know your thoughts on the same.
