The current head of Indian Cricket Team, Ravi Shastri is likely to step down after the World T20 to be played in October-November. BCCI now decided to approach Anil Kumble as head after Ravi Shastri’s tenure after the prestigious World T20.
Known as Jumbo, Kumble was appointed as the coach of the Indian team in 2016 after the Shastri association ended as team director. Some of the Indian players and Kohli were not happy with Kumble’s style of coaching resulting in his exit.
In his resignation letter, Kumble also stated that his “complementary skills” like profession, commitment and discipline had to be valued for a partnership to be “effective”.
Under the coaching of Ravi Shastri, the Indian team achieved lots of success winning 2 Test series in Australia. After being down and out during the first Test at Adelaide Oval, Ravi Shastri’s motivation talks made the Indian team strong helping 2nd string side to register remarkable series win on Australian soil in 2021.
Anil Kumble is currently the head of Punjab Kings in IPL. If he comes into the Indian setup again, Kumble might have to leave franchise coaching to be allowed in Indian team.
Under the coaching of Shastri, the Indian team registered big win wins at Lords and Kennington Oval, London in recently concluded Test series on English soil. Kohli along with Shastri taken Indian cricket to great heights.
Ravi Shastri has created a major impact in Indian Cricket with Virat Kohli. Despite not winning any major ICC titles, Shastri with Kohli won ODI and T20I series on home and overseas soil. Hope that Shastri and Kohli would end India’s trophy drought in the upcoming World T20 to be played in UAE from 23rd October.
Kohli also stepped down from captaincy in T20Is after World T20 and hope to see him lift the title with Shastri.
