BCCI promises Visas for the Pakistan Cricket Team to play World T20 in India

The International Cricket Council has got the assurance from the Indian Board, BCCI – The Board of Control of Cricket in India that the Pakistan Cricket Team will get the visas for the upcoming World T20, which will be played in India later this year.

There are political tensions between India and Pakistan. That’s why there was no clarity whether the Pakistan Cricket Team would get the visas for this upcoming T20 tournament.

In the quarterly meeting with the APEX body, the Indian board, BCCI, has assured the International Cricket Council that they will provide visas for the men in green to play this tournament of the shortest format.

The BCCI had responded to ICC after PCB had sought a written assurance to grant the visas not only for the Pakistani team members. But Eshan Mani also quoted they want visas for their fans, officials, and journalists for this ICC event.

Eshan Mani had also told the ICC that they would need a written assurance from India regarding the visas by the end of March 2021. So they will know where and what stand they needed to take, or the Pakistani Board will ask the International Cricket Council to push this ICC mega event to UAE if India doesn’t grant them the visas.

The Pakistan Cricket Team last visited India when the 2016 edition of the World T20 was played in the country. Since then, they have not come to India.

India will host the World T20 Tournament for the second time after 2016.

They will play the World T20 in the year 2021 in October and November. Both men’s and women’s teams of the West Indies won the World T20 tournament in 2016.
