After winning the toss, West Indies decided to field first to take three wickets in just 31 balls. The final scores of Bangladesh and West Indies were 103/10 and 95/2, respectively, with West Indies falling behind by just nine runs.
The Tigers locked horns with the men from the Caribbean in the first test match held on Thursday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound Antigua.
In the first half of the match, the hosts took six wickets from the visitors.
West Indies opened cautiously with John Campbell and Kraigg Brathwaite. But soon former was bowled out by Mustafizur. They managed to score just 15 runs off 15 overs before tea.
Bangladesh offered very few freebies to West Indies even after the break. Therefore, West Indies continued with their cautious approach, making 95 for two wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan became the lone star in the dark sky for Bangladesh by helping them to bundle 103 by scoring 51. While Tamim Iqbal scored 29.
Mustafizur Rahman and Ebadot Hossain took one wicket each for Bangladesh.
While the Bangladesh bowlers showed lion-hearted performance, they made several mistakes- three dropped catches and six wickets on the opening day alone. It would take a miracle for the team to make a comeback in the series.
The duo of Kraigg Brathwaite, the captain, and Nkrumah Bonner are unbeaten, ready to continue their partnership today also.
