West Indies win the first text match contested between Bangladesh and West Indies by 7 wickets at home. The test series which was supposed to continue for five days ended in four days only.
Kemar Roach assisted West Indies to bowl out Bangladesh for 245 runs in the second innings.
The host had opted to bowl after winning the toss knocking their opponents for 103 in a one-and-a-half session.
Bangladeshi bowled with a lot of heart and removed the last seven WI wickets for just 68 runs though they lacked support from their fielders.
Shakib and Nurul Hasan joined hands to stitch a century partnership to take their team into the lead.
Shakib made his second fifty of this Test while Hasan recorded his second Test fifty.
Roach claimed three quick wickets to dismiss the tourists recording his 10th five-wicket performance in the game’s longest format.
Roach marked Sunday as his day by not letting the visitors extend their lead to 100 with his outstanding performance in the second innings.
He even got praised by West Indies head coach Phil Simmons after he won the Player of the Match award in the first test match contested at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound Antigua.
“He (Roach) has been excellent. He is just taking things to the next level. In the dressing room, he is always leading the youngsters and letting them know what has to be done to get the way he is because it’s a long way for some of them who haven’t played many Test matches” quoted Simmon.
He further stated that “He played 70-odd Test matches and he is educating them off the field as much as on the field, so it’s great to have him in the dressing room.”
Three Bangladeshi Batters managed to make runs in double-digit while six batters failed to even get off the mark.
