Babar Azam dethrones Virat Kohli from top of ICC men’s ODI rankings

Virat Kohli who was holding the first position at International Cricket Council’s One Day International rankings has finally lost his position as another player overtook him. It is none other than the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam who finally dethroned Virat Kohli at ICC rankings.

Pakistan is currently playing a One Day International series against South Africa. In the third match of the series, the captain Babar Azam scored 94 runs off 84 balls which got him 13 points to reach a total of 865 points in the ICC rankings.

As per the final ICC rankings, Babar Azam has got the top place with 865 points and Virat Kohli at the second with 857 points. Virat Kohli is 8 points behind the Pakistani captain.

Babar Azam initially started his career with playing in under 19 cricket and he was the best player on the team in the World Cups of 2010 and 2012. Azam has been playing ODI matches for the last six years.

Before the ODI series, Azam had 837 points at ICC rankings. In the first ODI match against South Africa, Azam hit a century which got helped him getting 15 ICC points and 13 more in the third ODI.

Virat Kohli was on the top of the table for a very long time. After a long time, someone has taken over the rank. In the test rankings, Babar is at the 5th position in the ranking while he is at the third in T20.

Apart from Babar Azam, Another Pakistani player Fakhar Zaman is one of the Pakistani players to be in the top 10 rankings of the ICC. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz are the other players from the Pakistan team to the 11th and 96th rank.

From the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma was in the second position on the table with 825 points while Jasprit Bumrah is on fourth in bowling. From all-rounders, Ravichandran Ashwin is the only Indian player to be in the top 10 with 9th position at the table.
