The first IPL match of Delhi Capitals was played against the Chennai Super Kings last Saturday. It was a great match and was won by the Delhi Capitals. The Chennai team scored 188 runs on the loss of 7 wickets in the match which the Delhi team chased in 18.4 overs only. Shikhar Dhawan was the man of the match with 85 runs scored.
It was the first match for Rishabh Pant as a captain of the IPL team. Earlier, Shreyas Iyer was the captain of the team but due to a shoulder injury in India vs England One Day International series, he couldn’t play and Rishabh Pant got chosen as the captain.
In the Delhi Capitals team, apart from Shreyas Iyer, three other great players including Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, and Kasigo Rabad were absent and still, the team could manage to win.
CSK’S BATTING LINE-UP NOT UP TO THE MARK
In the match, we could see the Chennai Super Kings players struggling in batting. The batting line-up couldn’t perform well in the match. It was Moeen Ali who did very well after getting promoted to number three on the line-up. Other middle order players were not up to the mark. The CSK team should work more on their order it seems. Even in the powerplay overs, the team could only score 33 runs in the five overs while the Delhi team scored 65 runs in the first six overs.
However, Axar Patel will be soon back to the team in the next few days. Though, there are no confirmations about Rabada and Nortje. Do you think Axar Patel’s return to the team will make any improvements to the team’s performance?
