Australia postpones three-match Twenty-20 series against West Indies

The travel restrictions, border controls, and health concerns amidst the global pandemic have affected the global cricket schedules exponentially.

To begin with the impact, the Twenty 20 series between Cricket Australia and West Indies that was initially scheduled to be played in Townsville, Cairns and the Gold Coast of Queensland on 4th, 6th, and 9th October has been put on hold for now.

Before the Twenty 20 World Cup, this series was meant to be a warm-up for players. However, considering the Global Pandemic, the T20 World cup scheduled to be held in Australia was postponed. 

With the postponing of Twenty 20 World Cup, both the cricket boards of Australia and West Indies have mutually decided to put the series on hold at the moment.

Cricket Australia tweeted on Tuesday to confirm the news where they mentioned that the decision to postpone the three-match series has been taken in mutual consideration with the West Indies cricket board.

Players from both the cricket teams will now be seen playing in the rescheduled IPL – 13, which will supposedly take place in UAE. The IPL – 13 is scheduled to begin from September 19th till November 10th. 

Alongside even the ODI series of Australia against Zimbave has been postponed and South Africa’s tour of West Indies that was scheduled for September has been postponed to considering that the players will be occupied with the IPL. 

At the same time right after the end of IPL – 13 India will fly for its tour to Australia. The tickets being sold already will remain valid as long as Australia will host the edition in 2021.

 If the series is re-scheduled for 2022 later on then tickets will be canceled and a full refund to all buyers will be initiated as stated by the ICC on their website.
