Aus vs Ind, First Test: Ponting Predicted Shaw’s Dismissal While Commentating

The most awaited part of India’s tour of Australia, the Border Gavaskar trophy is underway in Adelaide with the pink ball day-night test match. In the match on the first day, India won the toss and elected to bat first on a bouncy and fresh looking Adelaide pitch. India who are high on confidence after winning the T20 series look to extend their dominance over the Aussies in the tests too as two of Australia’s main batsmen David Warner and Aaron Finch are currently out of the squad due to injury. It will be a big opportunity for team India to take a lead in the 4-match test series as Virat Kohli will leave the team after the first test match.

Virat led India to a comfortable position on first day:

India started the match with Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal opening the innings for India. However both these batsmen couldn’t stick on the crease for long and India lost 2 wickets quickly at the start. But Virat Kohli along with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane strengthened India’s position in the match.

Starc’s precision:

It was amazing to see when Stark dismissed Shaw on the second bowl of his spell and how accurately, Ricky Ponting predicted it from the commentary box.

Ponting talked about Shaw’s weakness with footwork and the eventual gap he leaves between the bat and pad, and said that Mitchell Starc would aim to exploit the weakness and Mitchell Stark exactly did that the very next ball.
