West Indies lost the test series by a margin of 2-0 and now the T20 champions gear up against South Africa in the series of the shortest format. West Indies have recalled their explosive stars in their lineup for this T20 series.
Andre Russell and Chris Gayle have been picked in the West Indies T20 team against South Africa. Andre and the Universal Boss, Chris Gayle have been in two World T20 winning squads for the Windies.
Chris Gayle is an explosive opening batter in the T20 format. The Windies opener is the only one to smash 10,000 runs in the shortest format. Gayle is also an IPL veteran and West Indies need his services espcailly before the World T20 tournament which will be played later this year.
Andre Russell is the best all roubnder which the T20 format has ever seen. He can bowl some crucial overs in the game and his power hitting can do the damage against The Proteas team. Russell has been a vital member for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and he has guided them to many wins in the past.
But the recent form if the best all rounder is not good. In the IPL 2020 season and the first half of the IPL 2021 season, Russell didn’t play that impactful innings for the Knight Riders. Windies will want Russell to come good against South Africa and gain some form before the World T20 in October this year.
Russell has played 49 T20 International matches for West Indies and he hasn’t scored a single half-century to his name. But still, the all-rounder adds the bowling and batting depth to any lineup in the world. Russ has the X factor in him.
West Indies and South Africa will play a series of five T20 International matches. The first two matches will be played today and tomorrow at Greendale National Stadium.
