Top Five All-Rounders Who May Not Be The Part Of The World T20 Squad Of India

The World T20 is the next big thing which Indian aims to win it. The ICC mega event will start from 10th October 2021, and it will go on till 15th November 2021. The International Cricket Council is yet to finalize the venue after India postpones the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The reports are that this ICC event will be held in UAE.

India has not won any ICC trophies since their ICC Champions Trophy triumph in 2013. Now the favourites tag of being the World T20 champions, Virat and his men look to end their ICC trophy drought in 2021.

India has just won one WT20 title till now. Team India won that in 2007 under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and now in the current T20 squad, Rohit Sharma is only the player who was part of the WT20 winning squad of the inaugural season.

Due to the postponement of the IPL 2021 season, some players might not play the World T20 tournament because they had the IPL platform to showcase their talent. Therefore, BCCI is planning to host the remaining matches. The Indian Board is looking for a September window to complete this season. Otherwise, BCCI will have to bear a loss of more than 2000 crores.

Today in this segment, we shall let our viewers and readers know the list of top five all-rounders who we think they will not make it to India’s World T20 squad in October and November –

Axar Patel – If Indian is eyeing another spin bowling all-rounder with Ravindra Jadeja, then Axar Patel fits into that squad. But Axar hasn’t shown his batting abilities yet. But he can fit into the squad as an extra spinner because he is wicket-taking bowling.

Still, we think that he will not make it to the Indian squad for the event in the shortest format because India has Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, who might get a nod ahead Axar Patel. Patel has recently bowled well in the IPL season for Delhi Capitals. So he has done a bit to get back his spot in the T20I team. But the chances are unlikely for the DC spinner because the IPL was postponed, and it is not starting anytime soon.

Shivam Dube – India can look for another pace-bowling all-rounder in their T20I squad. With Hardik Pandya not bowling and his batting form also have down in the IPL 2021, Shivam Dube is a good option. He was in the scheme of things for the World T20. But he lost his spot after the inconsistent performance and his performance in this year of the cash-rich league tournament wasn’t that great to recall Dube Ji in India’s squad.

Dube has played 12 T20Is for India. But the hard hitter batsman didn’t score runs at a quick pace in this fast-paced format. Virat Kohli even promoted him to the number three position. But Dube ate up many bowls in that match against the Windies, and India lost that encounter. Dube’s bowling also had come under the scanner. Still, there some months for the ICC event. But according to our opinion, Dune doesn’t fit into India’s T20I squad despite the talent he possesses.

Vijay Shankar – Was considered a proper number four batsman in the 2019 world cup, which India lost at the semi-final stage. India went ahead with Shankar instead of designated batsmen like Yuvraj Singh and Amabati Rayudu. Nit Shankar disappointed everyone with his poor batting and bowling show. Finally, he was dropped from that WC squad, and he hasn’t made a comeback into the national side.

Shankar is a bowler who gives a lot of runs in the T20 format. SRH has struggled to win matches in the IPL 2021 season because they had a player like Vijay Shankar, who never performed to his best abilities. Vijay had a minimum role to play for SRH over the years, and that’s why he will not be considered for the upcoming ICC event. He lacks consistency, and he has generally struggled with the timing. India needs a power hitter in lower down the order, and so Shankar will not be considered for that role of an all-rounder.

Krunal Pandya – The MI all-rounder had made his ODI debut against England recently. He also scored an impressive half-century in the 50 over format in Pune. But due to his poor bowling performance, he will not be considered for that one slot of an all-rounder.

India needs someone who can compliment Ravindra Jadeja while batting and bowling. Krunal Pandya is a hard-hitting batsman. But he gave a poor performance in the IPL 2021 season with the bat. And his bowling wasn’t up to the mark so that the team management will go in with a regular spin bowler instead of an all-rounder like Krunal Pandya.

Rahul Tewatia – If India wants to boost their T20 squad, they shouldn’t add just one dimension player into their squad. Rahul Tewatia is one of the players who again bats well, but according to the team needs, Tewatia has failed to step up his performance with the ball. India needs tight middle overs. That is why the team needs someone like Chahal to control the middle phase of the innings superbly.

Tewatia can play the big shots. But India already has Ravindra Jadeja in that squad to the damage in the last few overs, and Hardik Pandya is also there to finish the innings on a high. India will still be consistent on Hardik because he can give those extra runs, which will be vital for the team to set a target. So the chance of picking up Rahul Tewatia is next to none.
