Against World Champions England Received A Nail-Biting Run Chase by Ireland

With a Victory that will last forever, Ireland beats the T20 world champions in their home ground at Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020.

Technically it’s the second time England has lost to Ireland although the first time in their own backyards. Ireland’s victory over England has impressed the cricket fans since the first two matches were lost by Ireland in the three-match series with low scores of 172 and 219.

Ireland Captain Andrew Balbirnie along with Paul Stirling scored 214-run stand together for the third ODI, which eventually led to an accomplished chase of 329 for all-out in 49.5 scores.

Apparently, this is the same score as Ireland had reached back in the 2011 World cup when they first defeated England.

Ireland faced plenty of nervy moments throughout the chase especially when they were still left with 50 runs in the final 33 deliveries when Balbirnie and Stirling both left the pitch after scoring 113 and 142 respectively.

With Bangalore, India’s hero Kevin O’Brien hitting the final winning run the team celebrated their victory over England.

Balbirnie expressed his gratitude while mentioning “It’s a huge win for us and this group. For the young guys to be involved in this series but to also be involved in a win like that is special and one we’ll remember forever”.

After a fabulous score of 106 from 84 balls England captain Eoin Morgan called it an Average day while praising Ireland especially the performance of Paul Stirling since he flawlessly scored a century. Morgan added “Full Credit to Ireland as they have outplayed us today. They played really well and thoroughly deserved to win. We Stuttered throughout”.

Considering the current pandemic situation, the players living in the Republic of Ireland will have to go under quarantine for two weeks although the once from Northern Ireland wouldn’t have to face the quarantine.

It’s obviously going to be very strange 2 weeks for players to be in quarantine after such a memorable win, rather than being able to join. But I guess this is the new normal now.

Balbirnie jokingly said he will just find a couple of books or might as well watch the match four-five times while in quarantine.
