After missing IPL 2020, Suresh Raina set to return to competitive cricket: Report

Suresh Raina will always be remembered as one of the best middle order batsmen for India for giving consistent performances. Whenever the team was in trouble after losing quick wickets in the top order, they always looked forward to Suresh Raina to play a good knock and rescued the team. He led from the front to take the team over the line or provide a competitive total. Not only was he an amazing batsman but he soon developed into a very important bowler for team India.

Dhoni made him a regular spinner and made sure that this potential of Raina doesn’t go in vain. His variations in off-spin and the pace made it difficult for the batsmen to read him. He was also a tremendous fielder who always saved runs and always kept motivating other players of the team to put more efforts on the field. He has many unbelievable catches to his name and was the fittest member of the squad during his time.

Couldn’t play IPL this year:

He was set to play IPL this year for Chennai super kings but didn’t play due to deaths of some close relatives just before the beginning of the tournament. As a result Chennai super kings faired extremely badly in this tournament which shows the importance of Suresh Raina in the squad. They also missed their star spinner Harbhajan Singh in the squad.

To make a comeback:

However Raina is set to make a comeback in professional domestic cricket as he is set to play the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy for his hoke state Uttar Pradesh. This will be his first professional tournament ever since he announced retirement from international cricket in August.
