Aaron Finch Replaces Alex Hales, Joins KKR

Good news for KKR fans. On Friday, the Kolkata Knight Riders announced the inclusion of Australia’s world-winning limited-overs cricket captain Aaron Finch in the squad for the upcoming IPL season. Earlier, England opener Alex Hales had said that he would not play in the IPL.

Hales withdrew from the tournament due to fatigue in the bio-bubble. He blamed the mental fatigue of staying in the biological fort as the reason. Since then, Kolkata has been looking for a replacement cricketer. The coaches and officials stopped their search at Finch.

The IPL Governing Council has also issued an official statement regarding Aussie captain Aaron Finch’s inclusion in the IPL. In that statement, they said that Finch would join the KKR camp at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

Finch led Australia to their first Twenty20 World Cup win in the UAE last year. He was not in the IPL the previous season. But he is back in the fifteenth edition of IPL. In 2020, he represented Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore and played his last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi.

So far, Finch has played 87 matches for multiple teams in the Indian T20 League, scoring 2005 runs at an average of 25.36. He has been a part of all IPL teams except Chennai Super Kings. He has 14 half-centuries in his possession.
